Jammu: In Jammu and Kashmir, many types of attacks are carried out. For the first time, the army has deployed women soldiers near the Line of Control near Pakistan in the Tangdhar sector of North Kashmir. This is the first time in the history of the army. At the height of 10 thousand feet, in the most sensitive area, Sadhana Top and other places, about 6 women soldiers under the leadership of a woman officer are deployed to stop the smuggling of drugs and weapons. These women soldiers are from Assam Rifles.

GOC Major General ADS Aujla said in his statement, "This is the first time that women soldiers of the army are here with us, and we have deployed them at different places". He further said that there were many cases of smuggling in these areas, and the terrorists were using women for smuggling. Therefore, to curb trafficking and check women, women soldiers have been deployed."

According to the GOC, "We will get help from this, and we hope that whether it is the smuggling of drugs or weapons, it will be reduced". Significantly, women in the army have been employed as military officers for almost two decades, but are not yet appointed on the post of soldiers. In December 2019, for the first time, women were recruited in the army as soldiers, but they were recruited in the Military Police of the Women's Cadet Army, and are currently practising in Bengaluru. Even before the deployment of those women cadets, the Army has deployed women soldiers of Assam Rifles along the Line of Control in Kashmir. It is expected that some change can be made with this decision.
