Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out and spread across a parking lot of Yelahanka Air Force Station—which is hosting Aero India show—that has burnt around 100 parked cars.

Karnataka Director General of Police MN Reddi said "In total, about 100 cars were burnt in the fire. The fire spread has been controlled by creating a gap by removing adjacent cars. The fire is under control now. There are no reports of injuries or any harm to people. We suspect dry grass fire aided by heavy winds as the likely cause behind the incident,"

According to the fire department, the fire was controlled by creating a gap between the adjacent cars. No injuries have been reported so far.

According to officials, the fire likely started on dry grass, and spread quickly, aided by strong winds. Firemen tried controlling the blaze by moving unaffected vehicles away from the fire zone.

A thick blanket of black smoke engulfed the area sending people into panic mode who were there to witness the mega event on its fourth day.

Earlier, two Suryakiran aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed at Yelahanka air base in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The crash came just days ahead of the Aero India show.
