Delhi has registered 1,044 cases of black fungus so far. While 89 patients have lost their lives due to this fungal infection. Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Thursday that 92 people have recovered completely so far. 89 others lost their lives after being infected with the infection. The case of black fungal infection is being observed in many cities among those who have recovered from covid infection.

The Health Minister said that about 860 patients suffering from deadly infection are undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals in the capital. Mucomycosis is a fungal infection. It has already been found in diabetics.  This time too, diabetics are most vulnerable to it. At the same time, this fungal is infecting people who have poor immunity or have weakened due to corona.

Earlier cases of such infections were rare. But in the last few days, the cases have increased rapidly. Most of the people admitted to the hospital for covid-19 treatment have contracted this fungus. Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS Delhi has said earlier that special attention needs to be paid to cleanliness to prevent this infection. Management of sugar content in the body is very important.
