Visakhapatnam: In the boat accident in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, the administration has resumed the rescue operation with five boats and 2 choppers at 5.45 am on Monday. Meanwhile, the gates of the Doleswaram barrage have been closed and the search is on there. According to the latest information, so far 12 bodies have been taken out of the river.

It is noteworthy that 12 people lost their lives and 30 others were still missing after a boat capsized in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. There were 60 tourists in this boat. While some people saved their lives by swimming, some people were saved from drowning by the locals. In this way 27 people were successful in coming out of the Sakushal river. The accident occurred in the tourist destination Papikonda. The boat had 63 tourists and nine crew members. The boat, operated by a private operator, was mostly from Telangana.

Officials said 22 of the tourists hailed from Hyderabad and 14 from Warangal district. The boat was driven even after the flooding and the tourism department's safety guidelines were violated. CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh has expressed deep grief over the accident. He has ordered the rescue operation to be carried out on a war footing. Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced a compensation of one million to the families of each deceased.
