Bangalore: The rapidly increasing cases of black fungus in Karnataka, have added to the woes of the government and the people amid the ongoing outbreak of the second wave of corona. Karnataka on Sunday registered 1,250 cases of black fungus in a day. The state government has reported that 1,193 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the state.

According to media reports, amid rising cases of black fungus in Karnataka, Dr. Sujata Rathore, Director, Minto Eye Hospital, informed that 'about 126 mucomyosis patients have been treated in our ward since May 10, out of which 32 patients have lost their lives. While, 20 people have been discharged from the hospital after treatment'. Dr. Sujata Rathore said that 'We have treated six patients. Whose eyesight has not gone well'. 

Dr. Sujata further said that 'On an average, people in the age group of 28 to 84 years have been the worst affected by this black fungus. He explained that two children aged 11 and 13 have also been found infected with this fungal infection. Mucarmyosis was by now affecting adults also'. However, it is also being found in children and has two cases reported in rural Karnataka.
