Khunti: A shocking incident has been reported from Khunti district of Jharkhand. A 12-year-old boy has raped a 5-year-old girl here. The incident, which took place in Torpa police station area on Saturday, has created a stir across the district. On Tuesday, the police reported that the girl had gone to buy a cold drink from a shop near her house when she was raped by a boy who lived alone there.
Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar claimed that the boy was arrested on Sunday and confessed to the crime due to interrogation. He said the boy has been sent to a juvenile home in Ranchi on remand.

According to NCRB data, there has been a 17 per cent increase in rape cases in Jharkhand in 2021 as compared to 2020. While 1368 cases of rape were reported in 2020, the number increased to 1671 in 2021. After this, the rape in the state has not stopped.
