13 children killed in bus-train collision in UP, CM announces 2 lakhs ex-gratia

NEW DELHI:  In this morning when the school vehicle collided with a moving train at an unmanned rail crossing near Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh as many as 13 children were killed, reported Times Now and TOI.

Eight students were offended in the accident. Between 20 and 30 children were present in the school vehicle. The accident took place at a rail crossing in Dudhi near Kushinagar town.

When receiving the news Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deepest condolences, and directed the district administration to make available all help and medical aid to the injured. He also declared an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs and directed an immediate investigation into the cause of the accident.

Worth mentioning here this is the second accident this month in which a school vehicle involved. On April 9, 23 children and four adults accompanying them were killed when the driver mislaid control of the school bus and it fell into a 100-metre deep canyon at Malkwal area in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

“Total 18 school students were travelling in the vehicle out of which 11 have died, many of the rest 7 are critically injured, death toll may go up”, Anand Kumar, ADG (Law and Order) on Kushinagar accident as ANI tweeted.
