Policemen to be honored with Gallantry Service Medals on 75th Independence Day

New Delhi: A total of 1,380 policemen will be awarded police medals for gallantry and outstanding service on Sunday on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day. According to the Union Home Ministry, two of these policemen will be awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry and 628 police personnel will be awarded police medals for gallantry. At the same time, 88 policemen will be awarded the President's Police Medal for Outstanding Service and 662 police medals for meritorious service.

 

 

Amardeep, a SI of Jammu and Kashmir Police and black Sunil Dattatreya (posthumously), a CRPF jawan, will be felicitated at the President's Police Medal for the same gallantry. According to the Home Ministry, a total of 275 policemen from Jammu and Kashmir are being awarded medals for their valor and service this time. Among those who won medals for gallantry are 256 from Jammu and Kashmir Police, 150 from CRPF, 23 from ITBP, 67 from Odisha Police, 25 from Maharashtra, 21 from Chhattisgarh, and 21 from the rest of the states.

Also, out of a total of 23 Indo-Tibetan border police soldiers, 20 have been awarded for their bravery in the clashes in eastern Ladakh in May-June, 2020. It was a major clash on the border. The duties that protect the border have the highest gallantry medals awarded to ITBP for the bravery of their soldiers. According to ITBP, on 15th June 2020, 8 personnel have been awarded PMGs in Galwan Valley for gallantry, high-quality strategy, strategic insights, and protection of motherland.
