145-year-old train's journey over! People bid farewell with moist eyes

Khargone: The meter gauge Meenakshi Express, which has been running on track for 145 years, ran for the last time on Tuesday (January 31). This train was running on track in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh since the British era i.e. about one and a half centuries. People's eyes were moist when they saw the old train for the last time. On this occasion, railway employees and people honored the driver of the train with flowers.

The meter gauge of the British time will now be converted into a broad gauge. This train used to travel 123 kilometers between the Mhow and Khandwa districts of Madhya Pradesh. This train has contributed to the movement of devotees. By this train, a large number of devotees from Mhow Indore and surrounding areas used to come to Mortakka for the popular Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. Today, on January 31, this train has completed its last journey.  

Meter gauge tracks were built during the reign of the British, this train used to run on these tracks. After the completion of the operation of the Meenakshi Express train, the construction work will start rapidly. All the tracks will soon be converted to broad gauge. Railway employees and people around got emotional after seeing the train running for the last time. When the train driver and TC came to operate the train on the track for the last time, people welcomed them with flower garlands, the train was given the final green signal with happiness and tears on their faces. Citizens were also sad while remembering the history of the journey of this train at this time, and also expressed happiness that now with the broad gauge change of this track connecting north to south, this track will open new doors of development in the region.
