Maharashtra imposes 15-day curfew from today, these things will be exempted

Mumbai: The corona epidemic has caused a huge stir across the country, as on Tuesday, 60,212 new cases of the corona epidemic were reported in Maharashtra and 281 people died. At the same time, considering the situation, the state government has announced to impose a statewide curfew of 15 days from 8 pm on 14 April. The state health department said that with the arrival of new cases, the total number of persons infected so far in the state has increased to 35,19,208, while a total of 58,526 persons have been killed so far. 

The CM Uddhav Thackeray-led Mahavikas Aghadi government on Tuesday announced the imposition of a 15-day statewide curfew on Tuesday in view of the same infection cases growing alarmingly. Addressing the people of the state through social media, Thackeray said that the curfew will start from eight o'clock on Wednesday night and necessary services have been exempted from it. Thackeray said that Section 144 (Prohibition) of Criminal Procedure will remain in force till the ban is in force "like lockdown". 

However, he did not call the new restrictions a lockdown. Thackeray said that due to the prohibition issued due to coronavirus, the state government will provide three kilograms of wheat and two kilograms of rice to each poor and needy person free of cost for the next one month. The Health Department said in a release that 5,93,042 patients of Corona are currently undergoing treatment in Maharashtra. In Mumbai, 7,873 new cases were reported and 27 patients died.
