All 15 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) were declared guilty by a Kerala court for the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ranjith Sreenivasan in Alappuzha back in December 2021.

The Mavelikkara additional sessions court pronounced the verdict, finding the first eight accused guilty of murder and other charges, while the remaining seven were held accountable for offenses, including conspiracy. The accused were affiliated with the banned extremist group PFI and its political counterpart, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).

The brutal incident took place on December 19, 2021, when Ranjith, who was serving as the state secretary of BJP's OBC Morcha, was attacked and killed by an eight-member gang at his Alappuzha residence. The horrifying act occurred in front of his mother, wife, and daughter.

Remarkably, Ranjith's murder unfolded just 12 hours after SDPI state secretary KS Shan was also brutally killed in Alappuzha. In that case, the accused individuals, associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), are presently undergoing trial.
