Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh and former minister Azam Khan has filed his nomination on Thursday. On Wednesday (26 January 2022) on the order of the court, all the other formalities were completed in Sitapur Jail along with the filing of nomination papers from Azam Khan. On Thursday, Azam Khan's Chief Election Agent Asim Raza told that his nomination has been filed on Thursday.

Meanwhile, following the order of the top court, SP has given information about the criminal records of Azam Khan, his wife Tazeen Fatima and their son Abdullah Azam Khan. SP had recently announced that jailed MP Azam Khan on party ticket will contest from his hometown Rampur in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Please inform that Azam Khan is the current Lok Sabha MP from Rampur. He is imprisoned in Sitapur Jail since February 2020. Azam Khan has 87 criminal complaints registered against him.

Most of the cases against Azam Khan are section 153 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (promoting hatred between different groups on religious grounds), 159 (words, gestures, or acts intended to outrage the modesty of a woman), 509 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 448 (House trace pass), and 500. (defamation). Azam Khan has also been accused of election rigging. He has been charged under section 171G in many cases (false statement in connection with the election). At the same time, 35 cases are also registered against Azam Khan's wife Dr. Tazeen Fatima. who are out on bail now. There are 43 cases registered against Azam's son Abdullah.
