New Delhi: Stating that its participation in the air pollution of the capital Delhi is minimal, the Uttar Pradesh government has told the Supreme Court on Monday that the incidents of stubble burning in the state have come down by about 36 percent over the previous year. The state government has said that 104 officers and employees have been suspended due to the incidents of burning stubble. At the same time, it is also being said that the tax complaint filed in the Supreme Court has told the government that it is serious about pollution and tireless efforts are continuing on its behalf. The government said that in the year 2019, a total of 4230 incidents of stubble burning occurred in the state. Whereas last year its number was 6623. At the same time, the government said that the incidents of stubble burning in the state are decreasing from year to year.

According to information received from the sources, the government has told the top court that 104 officials and employees have been suspended due to incidents of stubble burning. 330 employees have been warned. It has been recommended to take departmental action against 11. A show cause notice has been issued to 49, while 83 have been asked for clarification. The salaries of five employees have been banned.

The government also said that a case has been registered against 2525 farmers for burning stubble. 167 farmers have also been arrested. Farmers will be fined Rs 270.56 lakh. At the same time, 97.78 lakh rupees have been recovered so far. Apart from this, notice has been issued to those 39 village heads whose incidents of stubble burning were more in the villages and these incidents were happening there again and again.
