167 rhinos killed during Congress rule, only 1. under BJP rule: Pietersen

New Delhi: Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has praised PM Narendra Modi for reining in rhino poaching in India. He tweeted, "Wow, my greetings to PM Narendra Modi and all the men and women who sacrificed their lives to protect animals in India. I have met many of them and respect them all. He responded to the news that rhino poaching in India has almost ended.

In Assam, 167 rhinos were hunted under congress rule, while in 2021 only 1 rhinoceros was hunted. Thus, rhino poaching in Assam is at a low level of last 21 years. The BJP had promised even before the government was formed that it would ensure the safety of one-horned rhinos. The national sanctuary has also reined in rhino poaching. Assam Special DGP GP Singh is also the Chief of the Anti-Poaching Task Force (APTF) of Kaziranga National Park.

He said that in 2021, only in the month of April, a rhinoceros was hunted, and no such incident was reported in any other month. In June 2021, a task force in this regard was constituted by the Government of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam. The Special DGP has thanked the assam government and forest department personnel for the same. Tell us that a horned rhinoceros is also considered to be a symbol of the state of Assam. They were hunted down during the Congress rule in 2001-2016.
