How do you define BTS’s fashion? Quite simply, you can’t. The seven-piece band have proved to be style chameleons, as they walk red carpets and execute immaculate dance routines world over. 

BTS’s outfits often come fresh from the runway and they have left few fashion houses unentered. Celine, Dior, Givenchy, Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Ralph Lauren have all outfitted RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and JungKook, while Louis Vuitton appointing them house ambassadors early on in 2021. Although the band move with the creative direction of each maison, they have illustrated a fondness for sleek tailoring—and the occasional tuxedo—as well as an affinity for streetwear. There’s clearly nothing that this band can’t pull off. 

For BTS, concert fashion is where their creativity comes alive. Think: the romantic, voluminous white shirts all seven wore to perform at the American Music Awards in November 2020 or the funky colour-pop looks they sported to perform “Dynamite” on Jimmy Fallon. Anyone who has watched them perform live knows that, catchy lyrics and enigmatic dance moves aside, the brilliant looks all seven step on stage wearing is what makes Army (the name for BTS’s dedicated fan base) stan them even harder. 

12 December 2018 The band all wore looks from Dior’s spring/summer 2019 menswear collection, which was the first under the helm of Kim Jones, at an awards show in Japan. 

10 February 2019 The band kept things sharp in classic tuxedos by Korean designers JayBaek Couture and Kim Seo Ryong for the 2019 Grammy Awards in LA. Shoutout to V and Jimin for their vibrant hair colours here. 

1 May 2019 Here’s one for British Army: all seven members wearing looks by Alexander McQueen at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. 

30 November 2019 A Miss Vogue favourite: Jungkook, Suga, V, Jin, RM, Jimin and J-Hope all wore matching tonal Prada for the Melon Music Awards in 2019. 

4 December 2019 Hedi Slimane is selective about who he allows to wear his Celine collections. Naturally, BTS all fit the bill and wore top-to-toe Celine ’fits at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2019.

25 December 2019 The band wore matching looks from Kris van Assche’s Berluti at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon in Seoul. 

31 December 2019 To celebrate NYE in NYC, BTS wore coordinating outfits that came with occasion-appropriate sparkle. Dazzling! 

5 January 2020 All seven members of BTS arrived at the 34th Golden Disc Awards in Seoul wearing looks from Clare Waight Keller’s Givenchy tenure. Sorry, but Jin and V win this look, wearing a baby pink suit and floral jacquard look respectively. 

26 January 2020 Fashion fans were elated to see the band all turn out in Bottega Veneta for the 2020 Grammys. 

24 February 2020 In a change of direction, the band surprised the Army by choosing more subversive looks from Rick Owens to appear on Jimmy Fallon. 

2 October 2020 The band wore fun and funky looks to prove their style dexterity later on during their Jimmy Fallon slot.

20 November 2020At a press conference for their new album, BE (Deluxe Edition), the band all wore chic suiting by Prada. Jungkook’s natty grey jacket is our fave here. 

22 November 2020 To perform at the American Music Awards, the band opted for a dramatic, albeit simple take on stage wear. RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and JungKook each wore voluminous white shirts with tailored trousers. 

23 February 2021 All seven wore brown preppy suiting by Polo Ralph Lauren during their MTV Unplugged performance. 

23 February 2021 RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook each looked sharp in aptly coloured grey Thom Browne looks to sing “Blue & Grey.”

14 March 2021 At the 2021 Grammy Awards, BTS wore looks from Virgil Abloh’s autumn/winter 2021 Louis Vuitton collection. Shortly after the awards show, the band were announced as house ambassadors for LV. “I am looking forward to this wonderful partnership which adds a modern chapter to the house, merging luxury and contemporary culture. I can’t wait to share all the very exciting projects we are working on,” Abloh said at the time. “Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us,” BTS concurred.
