Pune: A major fire has broke out in a chemical factory in Pune. According to information received, the fire department has brought the fire under control here. The factory where the fire broke out is said to be a sanitizer. Most of the women worked in this factory and a total of 18 people have died in the fire. Five of them have gone missing. Fifteen women are said to be among the dead. On the other hand, the Centre has announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees to the next of kin of those killed in the accident.

The fire department said that the fire has been doused after a hard fight. At present, 8 fire tenders are present and search is on for the missing persons. Chief fire officer PMRDA Pune Devendra Potphode says "there was a fire during plastic packing. The smoke was such that the women labourers could not escape. We have recovered 18 bodies. These include 15 women and 3 men. The search operation is on for other employees. ''
