NEW DELHI: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is on the verge of collapse as more than two-thirds of the party's MLAs have approached the BJP's state leadership in Andhra Pradesh. After a hard-fought defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections, the TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu got major setback .Talking to IANS, BJP National Secretary and Andhra Pradesh co-charge Sunil Devdhar said that about 18 TDP MLAs were in touch with his party. At present, there are 23 TDP MLAs in the 175-member Assembly of Andhra Pradesh.

"The legislators are well aware that TDP President Naidu will soon be in jail on several other charges including corruption charges (allegedly). Naidu's close aides and family members are also involved in corruption. And that is why the TDP MLAs are contacting us. He felt that the image of a clean Party of the TDP could soon be tarnished," Devdhar said, adding that the BJP's state in-charge for Tripura was also in charge.
