tyle="text-align:justify">Friday, two persons were detained for purportedly transporting cattle meat unlawfully near Padgha toll naka on Mumbai-Nashik Highway, police said.

The policerelease said, the two accused, whose names have been withdrawn, were yesterday arrested by district Rural Police and a total of 265 kg of meat was seized from their possession when they were transporting it to Mumbai from Nashik in a jeep.

According to police, both are the accused are the residents of suburban Govandi in Mumbai, did not posses licence for slaughtering, transporting or sale of meat.

It said, they were booked under IPC section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle etc) rw 34 (common intention), relevant sections of Animal Preservation Act-1995 and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act-1960.
