2 improvised explosive devices recovered in West Garo Hills

Meghalaya: Acting on a tip-off during a joint anti-terrorist operation, Meghalaya Police and CRPF recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 3.25 kg of Class II explosives and 3 detonators in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya. A case has been registered at Tikrikila police station under Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and investigation is on,” Vivekanand Singh Rathore, Superintendent of Police, WGH, denied the involvement of the militants.
 
Earlier, the Bajli police had arrested the main accused in the petrol bomb attack at the house of Asom Gana Parishad leader and educationist Dr. Ranjit Deka. The youth has been identified as Mintu Ali, 24, of Pathshala town in Bajli district. It is to be noted that Mintoo had allegedly hurled petrol bombs at Deka's house at around 9 pm on 7 August. Deka had contested the last election to the Assam Legislative Assembly on an AGP ticket from Bhabnipur constituency. He runs a reputed private educational institute 'Anundoram Barua Academy' here.

Deka's family members were present in the house during the incident. About 30 minutes after the incident, Mintoo threatened Deka's wife on her mobile phone. The number is not yet known. Bajli SP (Superintendent of Police), Dharmendra Das told The Sentinel, “His threatening calls gave us clues to the place where we traced him. A laptop and 13 mobile phone sets were recovered from Mintoo Ali's house. Further investigation is on.
