Friday, two persons were allegedly killed and 3 injured when a motor vehicle carrying them skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A Tata Sumo, travelling from Malikpura to Chilli, skidded off the road and rolled down a 200 feet gorge at Malath village in Bhalessa area of the district, after the driver lost control of the vehicle on a slopy curve, police said.
"Locals and police immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. All five passengers were rescued from the gorge and taken to Community Health Center in Gandoh where doctors declared two of them as brought dead", Gandoh SHO Tariq Naik said.
One of the passengers, Shad Ali, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to GMC Jammu. Two others, Taiyab Hussain and Mohd Rafi, were shifted to District Hospital Doda for further treatment. However, the deceased have been recognized as Mohd Tasleem and Mohd Mussa.
