New Delhi, Police arrested two person who used to make extortion calls by stealing mobile phones, for demanding Rs 10 lakh from a sugar trader. An FIR was registered, following the complaint of Kondli based sugar trader Rajkumar under relevant Sections of IPC at New Ashok Nagar police station in East Delhi.

During interrogation, the Crime Branch zeroed in on Guddu Mahto who was arrested on June 2.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav, said, "When confronted with material evidence against him, Mahto broke down and accepted his involvement in the crime and named his associate Ramu Chauhan".

Police arrested Chauhan from his house in New Kondli even as he tried to escape by jumping from the 3rd floor and injured his left leg, Yadav said.

During investigation, the duo told police that they used to snatch mobile phones for making extortion calls and later destroyed the SIM cards, he added.
