Peshawar: Two policemen accompanying a polio vaccination team were shot dead by some unidentified assailants in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Sunday. Police officials told the media that the incident took place in Tank district bordering the restive South Waziristan tribal district.
He said that after the attack, the gunmen managed to escape from the spot. According to the information given by the officials, after the attack, a police team reached the spot and cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the culprits. No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Polio vaccination workers in Pakistan are usually accompanied by armed security personnel as there have been several deadly attacks targeting them in recent years in Pakistan.
