20 people missing after boat sinking in Thailand's Phuket

A boat sank in the sea at the tourist island of Phuket, Thailand, 20 people are missing since then. There were 90 people on the boat. The Disaster Relief Office in Phuket told that the boat was submerged at that time while 90 people were drowned, half of which were rescued. Rescue work is still going on. 


The boat was returning to Phuket from Koh Racha. It is not known whether the people in the boat were tourists or not, but this area is popular among the tourists coming from abroad. Officials said that a boat named Sanerrita, which took 39 people in another incident in the same area, was also drowned. 

In the initial report, it was told that all the passengers were taken out of the sea but the officials could not give detailed information. This country has been in the news headlines all over the world because of the 12 boys rescued from the cave in Thailand. 

Recently, a member died during the rescue operation and this was informed in a tweet. Anne Barker tweeted "Samarn Kunan, ex Thai navy seal, who died during the attempt to rescue soccer team trapped in a flooded cave"
