Patna: Sadhu Yadav, the brother-in-law of RJD supremo and former CM Lalu Yadav, has been incarcerated in Beur jail by the MP-MLA court. This case originates from an incident in 2001, when Sadhu Yadav was accused of threatening the Transport Commissioner and creating a disturbance in the office. In 2022, the MP-MLA court sentenced him to three years in prison for these actions. The Patna High Court indicated that any appeal against this sentence would only be considered after Yadav's surrender.

The charges against Sadhu Yadav include assaulting officials in the transport office, obstructing government work, and extortion, stemming from the 2001 incident. Following his 2022 conviction by the MP-MLA court in Patna, he was granted provisional bail, a common practice for sentences of three years or less. Sadhu Yadav then filed an appeal with the District Judge, which was subsequently rejected, prompting him to approach the Patna High Court.

In response, the High Court directed Sadhu Yadav to surrender, stating that his appeal would only be heard upon his compliance. This directive has now been followed, with Yadav being sent to Beur jail. Notably, Sadhu Yadav served as an MLA from 2000 to 2004, adding a political dimension to the case.
