According to reports, the defendant claimed to be Saifi's husband. On September 4, social media was outraged by her rape and death, with the hashtag Justice for Rabiya trending on Twitter. Abhishek Singhvi, a Congress leader, also criticized the alleged inaction in the case. He said that a civil defence officer was brutally raped and stabbed in the country's capital and that the Delhi police were deafeningly silent.

According to reports, the Surajkund, Haryana Station House Officer (SHO) has promised to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter. On Twitter, several people sought justice for Saifi. According to reports, the Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party met with the deceased woman's relatives and promised them his full support.

The accused man was Saifi's lover, according to a media report. The couple were having differences due to which the accused identified as Nizamuddin kidnapped her murdered her. After murdering Saifi, he allegedly surrendered at the Kalindi Kunj police station. The accused man confessed his crime and told the police that he and the deceased woman married each secretly in court but Saifi’s family did not support the marriage.

After which Saifi got involved with a third person and the accused man decided to confront her. He reportedly took her to the Suraj Kund area of Faridabad where the couple had an argument after which he allegedly stabbed her brutally and killed her, as per reports.

Rabiya Saifi’s family filed a complaint with the police and alleged that the accused man kidnapped her while she was on her way home from the office and killed her. As per reports, Saifi posted at the SDM office of South East Delhi. She used to live in the Sangam Vihar area of Delhi.
