22 dead, 100 injured as dust storm wreaks havoc in Rajasthan

JAIPUR/ALWAR: Death toll rose from 16 to 22, as they were died while over 100 injured due to strong winds and dust storms that hit Alwar, Bharatpur and Dholpur districts. This storm left a trail of destruction and uprooting hundreds of trees on Wednesday evening.

Jaipur too observed a dust storm like other parts of the ‘Pink’ state. 9 people died in Bharatpur, three lost their lives in Alwar and Bharatpur respectively.

In Karauli, Due to the wall collaps with a building, made injured two women and three children. They were taken to Hindaun City's government hospital.

Apart from this, Jhunjhunu too reported deaths of two people. Here when a house collapsed due to the dust storm while Incidents of fire, reported from Dholpur.

Massive destruction was reported from Alwar as the entire district plunged into darkness as the power department cut electricity supply when electricity poles fell and snapped power cables.

On these entire incidents, Alwar district collector Rajan Vishal stated that three persons have died in different incidents due to the dust storm. He added, “We have alerted health department officials, including doctors, power department and district administration officials to provide treatment to those injured and repair the damage caused by the storm in the district”.
