Amritsar: Distanced from farmers' organisations that have formed a political front to contest assembly elections in Punjab, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait has said that the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) is not going to contest any election. He also said that we have nothing to do with the farmers' organisations that are entering the fray. When asked about the UP assembly elections, Tikait, who came to join the Jat community's pratibha samman, said, 'After the code of conduct is put in place, we will tell you what to do there.'

However, Tikait has also said that farmers will continue to play the role of 'king maker'. When asked about contesting the United Front elections in the Assembly elections in Punjab, Tikait said, "The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) is not contesting any election. We won't come to Politics.' Tell me, 22 farmers' organisations have announced to contest next year's Punjab assembly elections in the state on Saturday. These organizations have also formed an electoral organization called the United Society Front (Sanyukt Samaj Morcha). The United Society Front will field candidates in all the 117 seats in Punjab.

Tikait said, 'I am not entering politics and the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) will not contest any elections. Those who are contesting should fight with their own personal capacity. They have nothing to do with us. We have no political platform.' Tikait said on farmers' organisations forming a political front in Punjab, 'We are holding a meeting on January 15 and then we will talk about it.' Tell me that farmers' organisations in Punjab have decided to try their luck in the upcoming assembly elections.
