Bijapur Encounter: Number of martyred Jawans rises to 22, one Jawan still missing

Raipur: The bodies of 22 Jawans have been recovered so far in the Naxal attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. A Jawan is still reported missing. A total of 32 jawans were also injured in the attack, in which 25 jawans are being treated at Bijapur Hospital. The Chhattisgarh police have also claimed that 9 Naxals were killed.

According to police officials, security forces have also recovered the body of a woman Naxalite from the encounter site. A joint team of Cobra Battalion, DRG, and STF of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from Bijapur and Sukma districts was rushed to the anti-Naxal operation on Friday night. The anti-Naxal operations involved two thousand Jawans from Tarrem, Usur in Bijapur districts, Minpa in Sukma district, and Narsapuram.

On the encounter, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held talks with CM Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh and took the latest information about the situation, and instructed the CRPF Director General to go to Chhattisgarh immediately. Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes to the soldiers who were martyred in the encounter and said the country will never forget their sacrifice. We will constantly fight the enemies for the peace and development of our country.
