In 2021, at least 24 human traffickers were arrested, with 644 persons rescued from trains and stations. Officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway confirmed this (NFR). "Among them, 83 persons were rescued while being trafficked," according to the NFR.

"During the period, the NFR Railway Protection Force captured 24 persons who were involved in human trafficking," it continued. In addition, the Railway Protection Force under the Northeast Frontier Railway authority confiscated smuggled commodities worth over Rs 11 crore.

"The RPF recovered smuggled products worth over Rs 11.02 crore in 2021 and nabbed 105 persons engaged in the trafficking of contraband," according to the NFR release.

During the period, smuggled products like as ganja, brown sugar, and numerous things of foreign origin were confiscated in multiple operations.
