The National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year in India on 24th January. The day began in the year 2008. It was started by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It is said that the purpose of celebrating this day is to sensitize the people about the discrimination against girls in the country. The day is celebrated all over the country from 2008 years. On this day, the girl child rescue campaign is being carried out across the country.

In addition, campaigns are also launched to empower girls. In order to empower women, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was launched in the year 2015. The government's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign has been very successful. A number of important issues related to girls and women have also been raised through this campaign. In today's time, there have been many inhuman practices against women, such as foeticide cases. Such campaigns change the mindset of the people and this is the basis for celebrating the National Girl Child Day today.

Issues like safety of girls, education, sex ratio, health should be considered not only on this day but every day. Girls should also be given equal rights. They should have the freedom to do what somebody else gets. Today, all of us do not have to congratulate the National Girl Child Day, but everybody should take the oath that we will respect the girls and promote them in every sphere.
