Ladakh: The 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas is underway with fervor at Dras, Ladakh, as the nation commemorates India's triumph in the 1999 Kargil War against Pakistan. The war memorial is receiving its final touches, preparing to honor the sacrifices of the brave soldiers.
The esteemed Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, will grace the occasion as the chief guest and is set to arrive on Wednesday morning. His presence will be a solemn tribute to the brave jawans who laid down their lives for the nation.
Today, at Lamochen View Point, a poignant briefing will be held, showcasing an audio-visual narration of the battles that exemplify the valor and sacrifice of the Indian Army soldiers. The battleground's orientation from Lamochan View Point will precede the 'VIJAY BHOJ,' featuring a cultural program and 'Barakhana' at Sando Rear.
An army band will enthrall the audience with patriotic melodies, followed by local cultural artists displaying their rich ethnicity through traditional dances, embodying the commitment of the local populace towards the Indian Army and commemorating the brave hearts' contributions during Operation Vijay.
Numerous current and former top Army officers will pay their respects by laying wreaths and offering floral tributes on Tuesday. The ceremony will continue with a visit to the Hut of Remembrance, a museum adjacent to the memorial, to honor the fallen heroes.
The event will culminate with the lighting of lamps and a prayer service, accompanied by traditional pipe band and static band displays, as well as the Beating Retreat.
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed on July 26 every year, pays homage to the bravery and valor of the Kargil war heroes who spearheaded Operation Vijay, leading to the triumphant victory of the Indian Armed Forces. This celebration of courage stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of our armed forces and the nation's unwavering determination to defend its sovereignty.
