New Delhi: When PM Modi recently chaired a meeting to review the administration and various projects, he was very happy with the status report of a project. This project is Odisha's most popular railway track which was connected to Khurda-Balangir. Not only this, but the Khurda-Balangir railway line of 289 kilometres was also linking the way.

It is spread in the most backward and poor areas of Odisha. This project is working very sluggishly. In the year 2015, Prime Minister Modi got an eye on this railway project and he was very angry at that time by its status report. Expressing his displeasure, Modi spoke to the PMO officials at the time, "This region is home to the poorest and needy, who are backward from the rest of the region and desperately in need of government support. We have proved to be a failure in this area".

The Prime Minister had said, "There is a need to give priority to this project. If the work had been finished by the year 2000, the cost of the project would have been low and the people of Northeast India would have also benefited from it."

On Wednesday, when the Railway Ministry shared the status report of this project, Prime Minister Modi looked satisfied. Sources say that the status report states that Railway track work is being done at the right speed and it will be finished in due time. PMO officials believe that the status report of the Khurda-Balangir railway line proves that other schemes on the 'Pragati' platform are also being done smoothly.
