Panaji: Amid the crisis of corona epidemic, there are constant reports of oxygen shortage in many states of the country. In Goa also, 26 patients have been reported dead due to lack of oxygen. State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that 26 corona patients died due to lack of oxygen at Goa Medical College and Hospital between 2 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday.

The Health Minister said that the hospital was required on Monday to have 1200 jumbo oxygen cylinders, out of which only 400 were supplied. This led to a shortage of oxygen. Vishwajit Rane also said that the deaths and the reasons behind them should be investigated by the high courts. A 3 member team of nodal officers has been formed at Goa Medical College and Hospital to monitor the treatment of corona and they should inform the CM about the situation.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant had admitted on Tuesday that there was a delay in supply of oxygen to hospitals in Goa amid an increase in cases of corona virus infection, but assured that the process would be streamlined.
