Jain, the community who offers prayer to God Mahavir, every year celebrated the auspicious Jayanti of Lord. This year, it is celebrating on April 19, on Tuesday.

Mahavir Jayanti falls on the 13th day of Chaitra month and today would mark as the 2,616 years of the birth of lord Mahavir,who was born in 599 BC and was the 24th Jain Tirthankar.

On this day, several sects of Jains involving Digambars, Shwetambars, Sthanak Vaasis and Tera Panthis come together to celebrate the day. The occasion is marked by organizing mass celebration with elephants, horse-carts, camel-carts, a tableau on the life of God Mahavir, forming the key attraction.

Kundagrama in Vaisali is the birth place of Mahavir, who is known for spreading the message of non-violence and peace.
