Floods wreaks havoc in Maharashtras airforce airlifting people in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Rain continues to wreak havoc in the southern regions. In Maharashtra, torrential rain continues in Kerala and Karnat. The monsoon rains have flooded several parts of Kerala and Karnataka. Army has been deployed to evacuate and assist those stranded in these areas. According to news agency ANI, nine people have died so far due to floods in Karnataka. So far 16,875 people and 3010 animals have been shifted to 272 relief camps from flood-affected areas in the province.

In Maharashtra, at least 27 people have been killed so far due to heavy rains and floods. Among them, 11 people died in Sangli, 2 in Kolhapur, 6 in Pune, 1 in Solapur and 7 in Satara. In Karnataka, people stranded in the flood affected area of Belagavi are being airlifted with the help of airforce helicopters. Airforce has so far rescued 25 people from the patient, Haloli, Udhaghati and Girdal. With this, water along with 475 food packets has also been transported to the flood affected areas so far.

In Karnataka also, the flood situation has worsened. The Superintendent Engineer of Kabini Circle said that 1 lakh cusecs of water is being released from the Kabini Dam. He said, 15 thousand cusecs of water is being released from the Taraka Dam. More than 10 thousand cusecs of water is being released from the Nagau Dam. In Maharashtra, NDRF teams are engaged in rescuing people in Kolhapur. Things are worse here due to flooding.
