3 Civilians, a Teen Girl, Killed in Alleged Firing by Forces at Stone-Pelters in JK

KULGAM: Three civilians were killed allegedly after security forces opened fire in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday as ANI reported.

As per media reports, clashes broke out in Hawoora village after a mob began pelting stones at the security forces when they were carried out a cordon and search operation.

A number of protesters were injured in the clashes and have been rushed to in close proximity hospitals.

Reports further said that mobile internet services have been suspended in four south Kashmir districts - Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag and Pulwama following the incident.

IANS news agency quoted a police officer as saying that residents of Hawoora and adjoining villages tried to upset the anti-terror operation as Indain security men cordoned off the area following information that a group of terrorist was hiding there.

Reportedly three civilians sustained firearm injuries during the fight with security forces.

The dead civilians were recognized as Andleeb (16), Shakir Ahmad (22), and Irshad Ahmad (20).

Senior police officers, army and paramilitary officers rushed to the spot to take stock of the state.

Authorities immediately broke mobile internet services in all the four south Kashmir districts of Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama.
