Just sitting on the floor is an important part of many cultures around the world. While in India, people sit cross-legged on the floor and speak in formal manner Seiza in Japan, where the person rests on his hips with knees on the floor. Sitting on the floor is better said than sitting on a chair. However, doing this for a long time puts pressure on the lower back, which is called the lumbar part of the spine, especially in those who experience pain in the lower back. If your doctor has not advised you, you should not sit on the floor at all. If you are fit to do so, then here we are going to tell you about the benefit of sitting on the floor:

1. Sitting on the floor improves posture
Sitting on the floor supports your body to make your posture healthier. It helps in straightening your spine and back while pushing your shoulders back. Sitting on the floor encourages you to stabilize your core and thus reduces back pain. The cross-legged sitting pose brings a natural curvature to the upper and lower back, effectively stabilizing the lower back and pelvic area.

2. Sitting on the floor improves flexibility
When you sit on the floor, the muscles in the lower half of your body are stretched, which increases the flexibility of your body and gives strength to your feet. Sitting helps to stretch the hips, legs, pelvis and spine, which promotes natural flexibility in the body.

3. Sitting on the floor improves digestion
Sukhasana, a yoga posture where the person sits on the floor sitting on his feet, helps improve the digestive process. When we place our plate on the ground for food, we have to move our body slightly to eat and then we have to come back to our original state. Stirring of the body creates stimulation in the stomach muscles, which in turn increases the secretion of digestive enzymes in the stomach, which makes the diet digest well.
