In the Odisha assembly, some opposition BJP MLAs were allegedly thrown slippers, earphones, and papers towards assembly speaker Surya Narayan Patra last Saturday. Now, because of that, three BJP MLAs have been suspended from the convention. It is said that these three BJP MLAs are Jai Narayan Mishra, Vishnu Sethi, and Mohan Majhi. The MLAs have been suspended on charges of throwing slippers and other things towards the seat of the speaker. However, this incident happened when the house passed the Odisha Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill in haste within a few minutes without discussion.

At that time, the speaker has suspended the three MLAs and issued a ruling to leave the house. Meanwhile, the Odisha Assembly speaker said, "After watching the video footage, these three MLAs have been suspended from the house for the session.'' BJP MLAs then staged a strike under the statute of Mahatma Gandhi to protest against the suspension of three of their colleagues in the assembly. BJP MLAs continued their strike on Saturday night. According to reports, BJP MLAs, including a woman member Kusum Tete, had dinner and continued strike at night. In the meantime, Chairman SN Patro requested them to end the demonstration, but even after that, these MLAs continued their enforcement.

In this regard, the leader of the opposition P. Naik said, "The speaker has unnecessarily suspended our MLAs without giving them a chance to speak. We will be sitting on strike under open skies all night and hold a press conference tomorrow." Apart from him, BJP MLA Mukesh Mahaling said, "We would sit on strike all night. The speakers are casually assuming the matter. We will meet the governor and raise our concerns.''
