3 Phogat sisters in and one out: WFI disciplinary hearing

NEW DELHI: After eliminating the WORLD FAMOUS Dangal Girls “Phogat sisters” and 11 other wrestlers from the ongoing national wrestling camp for ‘indiscipline’, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) shows Kind heart and allowed them.

After conducting a disciplinary hearing into the matter on Wednesday and reviewing the written explanations submitted by the concerned wrestlers, the WFI made decision to permit three Phogat sisters – Geeta, Ritu and Sangeeta  to join the camp at the SAI centre in Lucknow.

Now all three will be allowed to appear for the selection trials for the forthcoming Jakarta Asian Games by WFI.

It is noted that the door has been still shut on the second of the Phogat sisters, Babita who the 53kg silver medallist at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018.

 Worth mention here Babita, who had clinched gold at the Glasgow CWG is still facing suspension by the WFI after she failed to offer any official explanation for her not-appearance at the camp, which will run until June 25.

The men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman camp is ongoing at the SAI centre in Sonepat.

As per the WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the federation’s decision will impact Babita for not participating in the trials to select the women contingent for the Asiad.
