Bengaluru: A 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck Kalburgi in Karnataka today i.e. Sunday on October 10. In fact, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has informed about this. KSNDMC recently informed about this, "The earthquake occurred at 6.50 am and its epicentre was two kilometres northeast of Kodadur in Kalgi taluka of Kalburgi district.''

At the same time, in a statement, he said, "According to the seismic intensity map, the intensity of the earthquake was low and was felt within a maximum radius of 7-12 kilometres.'' On the other hand, officials said, "There is no loss of life and property due to the earthquake. Such an earthquake does not cause any damage to the local community though a mild shock can be felt locally. No one needs to panic because the intensity is very low, which is not destructive.''

Tremors of magnitude 2.5 to 2.9 were felt near Basavakalyan in Vijayapura on October 1 and October 5. In fact, this place is near Latur and Killari where a massive earthquake struck in September 1993. On the other hand, Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority Commissioner Manoj Rajan told a website, "There may be many factors of an earthquake but there is no need to panic as these were very mild tremors.'' At the same time, he also said, "Seismic activities in the region will be discussed with prominent geologists very soon.'' Let me tell you all that Dr Lakshmma, Deputy Director, Mineral Administration, said, "The authorities have been on alert since the earthquake.''
