319 youth recruited in Indian Army, President said, ''Make CDS Rawat a role model..''

Dehradun: The country's President Ram Nath Kovind, while addressing cadets of the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun on Saturday, asked him to adopt the country's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat as a role model. President Kovind said this in a passing out parade of IMA.

Describing General Bipin Rawat as an extraordinary military leader, His Excellency Kovind said that the damage caused to the country by his death can never be compensated. Had it not been for this incident, General Rawat would have been present with us at the passing out parade today. President Kovind as well as General Rawat were scheduled to attend the event. The country's first CDS General Bipin Rawat completed his graduation from IMA in Dehradun. He was awarded the Sword of Honour, the best award given to the best cadet at the Academy. In Tamil Nadu, 13 people including General Rawat, his wife Madhulika were killed in a helicopter crash in Coonoor.

On Saturday, 319 youths joined the Indian Army after completing their final stage. The biggest number of youngsters were from Uttar Pradesh, 45 from Uttarakhand and 43 from Uttarakhand. In addition, 68 cadets were from other states. On Saturday, 387 cadets graduated from IMA Dehradun.
