Patna: The storm that followed the scorching heat in Bihar has added to the woes of the people more than the relief. A few hours of rain and thunderstorms have claimed 33 lives in 16 districts of the state. All of them died due to lightning. CM Nitish Kumar has announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased. In a tweet, Nitish Kumar wrote, "Saddened to death of 33 people in 16 districts of the state due to thunderstorm and lightning. It was also directed to provide compensation of Rs.4 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased immediately and to assess the house damage and crop damage caused by the thunderstorm and lightning and to provide assistance to the affected families at the earliest.''

In the next tweet, Nitish Kumar wrote, "Appeal to the people to be fully vigilant in bad weather. Follow the suggestions issued by the Disaster Management Department from time to time to prevent thundershowers. Stay home in bad weather and stay safe. According to the information, Bhagalpur area of Bihar has been the most affected due to this thunderstorm.'' Here, seven people have lost their lives due to lightning. The figure of Muzaffarpur has also reached 6. On Thursday afternoon, Bihar witnessed heavy rain and thunderstorm. Then the trees had fallen from place to place and the electricity was disrupted for hours.
