The Indian Navy plays an essential role in attaining the marine borders of the country as well as ornamental the global relations of India through seaport visits, joint exercises, humanitarian missions, disaster relief and so on. The Navy Day is celebrated to honor the brave attack on the Karachi during the India-Pakistan war on 4 Dec 1971 by Indian Naval Missile boats and also to respect of war. It is renowned using a particular theme (like “Safe Seas and Secure Coasts for a strong Nation”) of the year for assembly it more authoritative and potent.A movie was also released in the name "The Ghazi Attack" that is about the Indian Navy's brave attack on Pakistan's Submarine Ghazi during the Indo Pak War of 1971.

The group of people working day and night for the Indian Navy is conducted by the Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT) from 24 Nov to 26th of November at Good Hope Old Age Home, Fort Kochi in which students from the Navy Children School Chair take parts to entertain the inmate and Naval dr. (from INHS Sanjivani) provides health checkup to the inmates. Navy Ball, Navy Queen contests including the Navy fest are held to celebrate Navy Day.
