Chhath festival is being celebrated with religious enthusiasm and gaiety in Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Standing in knee-deep water at different ghats of rivers, ponds and water reservoirs, devotees with all respects paid oblations to the setting sun on Tuesday evening.

Worth mention here The Chhath festival is also being celebrated in Nepal. Thousands of devotees thronged at the banks of various rivers, ponds and water reservoirs to celebrate the festival of Sun God.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari also took part in the festival and offered prayer to Sun God in Kathmandu.

For those who don’t know Chhath Puja is one of the most major festivals of India. This festival is celebrated in most parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and also in some parts of Nepal. The festival starts in the month of Kartika on its sixth day. The festival lasts for four days and is dedicated to worshipping Lord Sun for seeking his blessing and praying for keeping the family hale, hearty and well-heeled. This auspicious day is observed by offering prayer to Lord Sun and taking dips into the sacred waters of the Ganga. The day celebrates the compassionate act of Lord Sun and his wife for granting this attractive life on the soil.
