Another Drowning Case: 4 drown during idol immersion in Badaun

Lucknow: Six people who came to immerse the statue at Kachla Ganga Ghat in Kotwali Ujani area of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh drowned in deep water. Two of them were evacuated safely, while 4 could not be traced. A continuous rescue operation is being carried out by the police to trace them.

The sudden incident created a stir on the spot and created a crowd. Four people have not been traced even after all efforts by police and local divers to carry out the rescue operation. Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police Dr OP Singh informed that last evening a family from Mohalla Nahar in Firozabad district had come for idol immersion. Dozens of people including Deepak Gupta (45), Kunal Sharma (17), Bhola alias Bholenath (15) and Ramu (35) had arrived on the Kachhla Ganga coast on Friday evening to immerse the idol.
 
Meanwhile, six people were washed away in the water due to the strong flow of Ganga, out of which two people were rescued while 4 people are nowhere to be traced. Apart from PAC, several groups of divers tried to recover the bodies till dark but did not succeed. SSP Dr OP Singh said that a rescue operation is being carried out since this morning to recover the bodies and it is expected that the bodies of Deepak, Kunal, Bhola alias Bholenath and Ramu will be found very soon.
