Amritsar: Former cabinet minister Rana Gurmeet Singh, who is contesting from Ferozepur Urban on behalf of the BJP in Punjab, has been accused by a woman of cheating him of Rs 40 lakh. The allegations were made by a woman named Mamta Azhar, a resident of Dholpur Body in Rajasthan. During a press conference, the woman has levelled allegations against Rana Gurmeet Singh and Hari Charan, a resident of her locality.
"I wanted to contest from her area. Hari Charan said, "I can get you a ticket from the Congress and he got us to meet Rana Sodhi in Delhi. Rana Sodhi assured us that you will get the ticket. A few days later, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi sent Hari Charan to our house and he said that work for our ticket had already started. They asked me for Rs 10 lakh for it, which we gave them in cash. After that, at the time of the election, he told us that if your work is done, then you bring thirty lakh rupees. Then I went to Rana Sodhi's residence in Delhi and gave him Rs 30 lakh.
The woman told that when the ticket was given to someone else from the Congress side, I called them and asked for my money back. They started hesitating, after which I filed a case against them in the court there, which is going on till date. The court ordered registration of an FIR and investigation against Hari Charan. But due to their influence, the police there could not reach them. When we came to know, after coming here and doing this press talk, we are telling people that there is a case pending against them in the court of Dholpur, so how are they fighting the elections. Get our money back.
