New Delhi: NITI Aayog member VK Paul has given a big statement regarding the death toll due to corona infection in India. VK Paul on Tuesday said that the increase in death registrations in India in 2020 compared to 2019 is not only due to death from Corona. Not only this, he said that publication of excessive number of deaths from corona in India by some agencies should also be stopped. Corona Task Force Chief VK Paul also mentioned the recent report of The Lancet.

In fact, it has been claimed in the Lancet that the estimated death from corona in India between January 2020 and December 2021 is eight times more than the reported report. According to government data, 4,89,000 people have died due to corona infection in India during this period. Launcet had claimed in its report that from January 2020 to December 2021, India had the highest number of Covid deaths in the world, 40.7 lakh people died in India.

At the same time, the Central Government has released the Civil Registration System (CRS) Report 2020 on the basis of birth and death reports on Tuesday. According to the RGI report, the number of registered deaths in India in 2019 was 76.4 lakh, which increased by 6.2 percent to 81.2 lakh in 2020. VK Paul said that now that information about the actual number of deaths due to all causes is available, there is no point in making estimates based on estimates and models. He told that 6.9 lakh more people died in 2019 than in 2018.
