40-year-old farmer commits suicide at Indus border

New Delhi: The farmers' agitation has been going on for more than 40 days on Delhi's borders against the agricultural law. There have been many farmers who have given their lives so far. Last Saturday, a 40-year-old farmer has eaten poison on the Singhu border. He was reported to have been taken to hospital for treatment, but the farmer died during the treatment.

The media report in the case also says that many farmers have died during the agitation for the last one and a half months. While some farmers died due to cold, some farmers committed suicide. Just 2 weeks ago, the farmers of Punjab died on the Delhi Haryana border and Tikari border. The first death took place at Tikari border where the deceased farmer was identified as Jugbir Singh.

Thereafter, the other farmer died on the Kundali border and was identified as Kulbir Singh. The 8th round of talks between the farmers and the government was held on the last day. The talks also failed. The talks were attended by representatives of farmers unions and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash. It is said that the next meeting is now going to be held on 15th January.
