Varanasi: During the excavation in Bhabhaniyav village under Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, after the founding of 4000 years old Shivling, people gathered to see the excavation site. This ancient Shivling was found at a time when a team from the ancient history department of Kashi Hindu University i.e. BHU was engaged in archaeological excavations at Babhniav village, 18 km from the city.

The BHU professor revealed the possibility of having an ancient 'craft village' during the excavation. This village is said to be 3500 years old. The professors of BHU have made this claim after surveying the pottery of the copper stone period and the Brahmi script of the Kushan period, obtained after surveying in the village of Babhniav. In fact, under the Varanasi Heritage Projects, the survey work was started in the surrounding areas for Panchkos Parikrama.

Several hundred years old remains were found in the village of Babhaniyav during the survey. BHU's Archaeological Department started excavation, then 4000 years old Gupta carpet Shivalingam was obtained. The ancient history professor of BHU believes that this place must have been a place of worship by the people during the Gupta period. Now more information is being gathered in this regard.
