J&K Restored 4G Internet Services After 18 Months

Srinagar: After taking a major decision, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has restored 4G mobile internet service across the state after about 18 months. Principal Secretary (Power and Information) Rohit Kansal gave information about this on Friday evening. It is being told that this step has been taken in view of online studies of students.

After the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution from Jammu and Kashmir, internet service was stopped on August 5, 2019. However, the 2G service was restored on 25 January last year. To bring normal life completely back on track, 4G Internet service has also been restored. National Conference President and former CM Farooq Abdullah also appealed to PM Modi to restore 4G service in Jammu and Kashmir. It is noteworthy that earlier this year, 4G service was started on a trial basis in less sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir. After this, this service has now started in the entire state.

On 6 May 2020, 2G internet service was also stopped after Hizbul commander Riyaz Naiku was killed in the Pulwama encounter. After about a week, the internet was operational in Pulwama. Meanwhile, former CM Omar Abdullah expressed happiness over the restoration of the 4G service via tweet. Abdullah has written on his account that '4G Mubarak. For the first time since August 2019, 4G mobile data service was restored across Jammu and Kashmir. better late than never.'
